Welcome to Local Rook. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.
1. Description of Service and Future Modifications
Local Rook is a platform for discovering, sharing, and reviewing locations where people play chess over-the-board. Currently, the core functionalities of the platform are provided free of charge. However, we reserve the right to introduce premium features, subscriptions, or modify the pricing structure of the platform in the future. You will be notified in advance of any material changes or if specific features require payment.
2. User Accounts and Age Requirement
You must be at least 16 years old to register and use Local Rook. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. You may register using Google, GitHub, or an email/password combination. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.
3. Intellectual Property
Local Rook and its original content, features, software, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Local Rook and its licensors. The platform is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
4. User-Generated Content & License
You retain ownership of the content you submit (e.g., venue details, ratings, messages, photos). By submitting content, you grant Local Rook a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and technically modify (e.g., scale, compress, or format) that content strictly for the purpose of operating and displaying the platform.
5. Acceptable Use and Content Moderation
You agree not to upload false, offensive, defamatory, or illegal content. Local Rook operates on a "notice and take down" basis. If you spot abusive behavior, illegal content, or copyright infringements, please report it via legal@localrook.com. We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.
6. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The platform is provided "as is". We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access to the platform or that user-submitted venue information is accurate. We are fully liable for damages resulting from intent (Vorsatz) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit), as well as for damages resulting from injury to life, body, or health. Any further liability for slight negligence or indirect damages is expressly excluded.
7. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via your settings. Upon account deletion, your personal data is removed, and your community contributions (venue edits, ratings) are anonymized, not deleted.
